Ich habe bisher alle Bände der Reihe gelesen und auch diesen mit Spannung erwartet. Ich hatte das Glück, vorab ein Exemplar von Rhys Bowen zu bekommen. Ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Es ist wieder eine kurzweilige Geschichte mit allen liebgewonnenen Charakteren. Jetzt heißt es, warten auf Band 13...
Not my favorite so far. I’ve read and listened multiple times to all the other books in this series. I found the plot for this book to not be as fully developed. More importantly I am most heartbroken about the change in narrators. The loss of Katherine Kellgren is almost too big to overcome. The change to Jasmine Blackboro is so jarring. There is no continuity to the pronunciation and phrasing of the prior books. Even the emphasis on names has changed. It just doesn’t feel as fresh and charming as the narration by Ms. Kellgren. Rhys Bowen dedicated the book to Ms. Kellgren and said she just can’t imagine the audio without her. Turns out I feel the same.
I have read every single one of the Royal Spyness novels and have adored all of them. This one was so entertaining that I immediately re-read the last few chapters to make sure I'd caught everything. I am delighted that Georgie and Darcy finally managed to tie the knot. All I worry about now is since they're married, Bowen won't be revisiting the series. I keep my fingers crossed that, given Darcy's job and Georgie's "hobby," Bowen won't soon run out of ideas for the Honourable Darcy and Lady Georgiana O'Mara. Way too many series get old and boring after a few books, but these stories are still as much fun now as they were in the beginning. The regular characters are people I've come to love and I look forward to reading about them in each new book. Please keep up the good work, Ms. Bowen!
I still have some of the same issues I had in book 11 with continuity and repetition. Examples for this book are - why does Belinda still act like she has money issues when she became a wealthy woman a few books ago with an inheritance? Why does Georgies mother prefer Claridge's when it was Browns hotel she favored for reverting to her old title of duchess? Why did we reference Belinda's maid leaving when she already left in a previous book to be a typist. I know people might think these are small issues but it really is sloppy writing.On the positive side I feel the mystery itself was more solid than previous efforts. And it kept me entertained. I will gladly listen to this one again.Yay for Georgie finally getting married. If this was the last book in the series that would be a lovely way to bookend it. But I know its not and I know there will be more. Consistency issues aside I love the series and will be back next year for a new adventure!!!
If you are a fan of the Royal Spyness books, this one will satisfy you Georgie fix, your Darcy fix, put Queenie in a new light and keep you turning the pages. It had all the usual elements found in these books. Servants, grandeur, mysteries and of course, clues along the way. Georgie seems more together and in her element with her warm open heart beating wildly. The wedding is planned but a few obstacles occur in the March to the wedding. With her Mother, Grandad and her all having upcoming weddings, it is quite amusing. We see Georgie spending more time than ever with her Mum. Finally just enjoy! You will find the time until the wedding flying by.
I am so excited to have Lady Georgina marrying Darcy! However, she gets herself into a conundrum of strange servants, her small wedding plans go out the window as soon as Queen Mary invites herself, and offers young Princess Elizabeth, and Princess Margaret to be flower girls. Now that the King, Queen, and various Royalty are invited, the Wedding is starting to spiral out of control, as well as her household! Will she be alive, and will she be able to live with a handsome man like Darcy, when there is always some beautiful woman who wants him?I highly recommend! Thank you!Carolintallahassee
